The current annual rent is £7.00 per rod (approx. 25sq metres) so a half plot of 5 rods would cost £35.00. Each year tenants also pay £6.50 association fees which includes both membership of the local association Exmouth and District Allotment Association (EDAA) and the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners (NSALG).
At the start of a tenancy a one-off £12.00 per rod plot deposit is payable (£60.00 for a half plot of 5 rods).
The deposit is refunded provided that the plot is in a lettable condition when tenants leave.
Rent renewals are sent out by e-mail, in early December. Payment is always due by 31st January and payments made after this date will subject to a late payment fee of £10.00 per plot. Payment can be made direct into the association’s bank account, or by going to either Hamilton Lane Shop or Pound Lane Shop and paying in person by cheque or by cash.
Each site is run by a site coordinator who meets new tenants and shows them around. The association has a clear set of rules that coordinators use to ensure that each site runs safely and efficiently.
To apply for an allotment plot at either of the EDAA sites, you will need to be a resident with an EX8 postcode, when applying and throughout your tenancy.
