The 2020 course is fully subscribed but please contact us if you wish to be on the waiting list.

Get growing with us! Learn the art of allotmenteering on your very own plot at the Exmouth & District Allotments Association allotments.

This is a new venture for EDAA and we are looking for 9 keen gardeners to join our practical and informative Allotment Course.

carrotsSuccessful candidates will receive regular tuition, have access to the communal polytunnel for classes and propagation, have their own mini-plot to tend, and take away home-grown harvests.

The cost of the course is a very low £50, which covers the cost of EDAA membership, tools, seeds, muck, etc. You will not have any other course expenses as all will be included.

Students will be expected to attend a couple of two-hour practical tutorials each month and commit at least a couple of hours per week to tend their plots, perhaps less at the start and end of the season and more during the summer.

The course is particularly suitable for novice growers who would value tuition and guidance.  The size of the mini plots (25m²) is based on the plots at the RHS Rosemoor small garden project. They will be weed-free and ready for you to concentrate on growing vegetables rather than first having to clear a derelict plot, although the latter task will form the basis of one of the later classes. As a novice you will be able to see, over a full growing season, the joy of allotmenteering and also the commitment needed for even a small area, helping you to decide on the size of plot you would like in the future.

Applications for places are open until January 31st 2020 for a late February 2020 course start.

To apply, please email the veg course leader stating your gardening experiences and why you would like a beginners’ vegetable plot at Exmouth Allotments (approx 20-50 words).  The course is likely to run at the Hamilton Lane and Pound Lane sites, so please state your preference.

The monthly classes will be on Sunday mornings (10.30-12.30) and you will have access to your plots at other times.
